Engineers at Arizona State University have developed a novel AI-based air traffic management software. “AI has been boosting everywhere, so we thought that’s about the right time to use AI mission learning to help us better understand air traffic safety to automate the process [and] make sure the system becomes even safer,” said Professor Longming Liu.

However, the primary role of AI remains supplementary.
