Wolgan Valley is set for a high-profile return in mid-2026, reopening under a landmark partnership between Emirates and Marriott International as the world’s first Ritz-Carlton Lodge.
The 40-suite, all-inclusive retreat in the Greater Blue Mountains has been closed since 2023. Its relaunch marks a strategic repositioning of the celebrated conservation resort — formerly operated by One&Only — within Ritz-Carlton’s ultra-luxury portfolio.
Emirates has invested more than AU$150 million into environmental restoration across the 7,000-acre reserve since acquiring the property, including the preservation of the original 1832 homestead. A further AU$50 million is being directed towards transforming the lodge in partnership with Marriott.

Importantly, the lodge will continue to occupy less than two per cent of the protected landscape, maintaining its low environmental footprint. The redesigned private suites — each with its own pool — will blend Ritz-Carlton’s refined design standards with the rustic elegance of traditional Australian homesteads.
Arrival is part of the experience. Guests can access the valley via four-wheel drive along historic trails or opt for a helicopter transfer, underscoring the sense of departure from city life into vast wilderness.
Experiences will centre on immersive, naturalist-led adventures — from guided wildlife encounters to overnight wilderness dining beneath the stars, complete with astronomical observation. The aim: combine Ritz-Carlton’s signature service with deeply authentic environmental engagement.
When it first opened in 2009, Wolgan Valley set a new benchmark for conservation-led luxury in Australia. Its 2026 revival signals not only a renewed commitment to sustainability, but also a significant expansion of ultra-luxury accommodation in regional New South Wales.
