Since October 2025, the European Union has begun rolling out its long-planned Entry/Exit System (EES) – a major update to border processing across the Schengen area. The system replaces manual passport stamping with a fully digital model designed to improve security, monitor short-stay limits and streamline the movement of non-EU visitors.
Under the EES, travellers from the UK, Australia and other non-EU countries now have their passport details, facial image and fingerprints recorded the first time they enter a Schengen country. Each subsequent entry or exit is logged automatically. While the aim is greater efficiency, the European Commission has advised that the initial transition period may still bring longer processing times at busy airports, train stations and ferry ports.

Importantly, these rules apply to all travellers, including those arriving by private jet. Charter passengers must still complete the biometric registration process at their first point of entry.
The EU began implementation in October 2025, with full operation expected by April 2026.
At Adagold Aviation, we want clients to be fully informed as these changes take effect. If you’re planning travel to Europe this year, our team can help coordinate your itinerary, advise on likely impacts and ensure your journey remains as seamless as possible.
