In a groundbreaking move for Australia’s aviation industry, sustainable aviation company FlyOnE has announced plans to purchase 30 Smartflyer SF1 electric aircraft from Swiss-based manufacturer Smartflyer.
The agreement, solidified through a letter of intent (LOI), marks a significant milestone in advancing electric aviation within Australia, with ambitions for both domestic and international expansion across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

The Smartflyer SF1, a four-seat electric aircraft currently in development, features an innovative design with an electric motor in the tail and a fuel cell in the nose. Capable of operating solely on electric power, the aircraft boasts a range of up to 800 kilometres, or five hours of flight endurance, making it an ideal solution for reducing aviation’s environmental impact.
This acquisition aligns with FlyOnE’s mission to enhance sustainable air travel in Australia, addressing the nation’s unique geographic challenges.
FlyOnE has already facilitated over 1,700 electric flights and established charging infrastructure in two Australian states, positioning itself at the forefront of the country’s electric aviation sector.
The addition of the Smartflyer SF1 aircraft is expected to further propel the company’s efforts in reducing carbon emissions in aviation. As the global industry shifts towards sustainability, the partnership between FlyOnE and Smartflyer is anticipated to accelerate the adoption of low-emission aviation solutions across Australia and the broader APAC region.
