Otto Aerospace is developing the Phantom 3500, a business jet that could reshape expectations around fuel efficiency and aerodynamic performance. Expected to enter service in 2030, this aircraft represents a bold departure from conventional business jet design.
The Phantom 3500’s most striking feature is its windowless cabin, replaced by high-definition digital displays called “Super Natural Vision”. This isn’t merely a design choice – eliminating traditional windows removes structural disruptions to airflow, contributing to the aircraft’s exceptional aerodynamic efficiency.

The jet’s laminar-flow design covers 85-90% of its surface across both wings and fuselage. Wind-tunnel testing has demonstrated drag reductions of up to 35% compared to conventional business jets, allowing for lighter structural weight and smaller engines. Otto Aerospace projects fuel consumption will be 30-60% lower than comparable aircraft, with emissions potentially reduced by up to 80% when operating on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
Performance specifications include a range of 3,200-3,500 nautical miles, cruise speeds of Mach 0.78-0.80, and a take-off distance under 1066 metres. The cabin offers 6’5″ of headroom despite the aircraft’s streamlined profile.
The Phantom 3500 will be certified under FAA Part 23, typically a more streamlined approval process than larger aircraft categories. First flight is planned for 2027, with lessons from Otto’s Celera 500 demonstrator already validating key aerodynamic principles and manufacturing techniques.
As the private aviation industry continues prioritising sustainability, the Phantom 3500’s combination of efficiency and innovative design positions it as a compelling option for environmentally conscious charter operations.
For operators like Adagold Aviation, innovations such as the Phantom 3500 demonstrate how the future of business travel will increasingly blend efficiency, advanced design and exceptional passenger comfort-qualities central to the charter experiences we deliver today.
