Rioting and looting have broken out across the country, with a concentration in the KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng provinces, where the capital city, Johannesburg, is located. The outroar started when former president Jacob Zuma was arrested after defying a court order to testify before a graft inquiry. Many looters have said their actions support their families and pressure the government that has done little to provide for the growing poverty population.
