Icons that don’t sit close together
Perth is the gateway, but WA’s drawcards are spread across enormous distances. The South West and Margaret River deliver wine and coastline; Ningaloo at Exmouth offers whale sharks and reef; and the Kimberley, through Broome and Kununurra, opens up remote lodges and expedition ships. What makes them special is partly how hard they are to reach. Scheduled flights into Exmouth or Kununurra are limited or seasonal, and the driving times between them are punishing for anyone who’s time-poor, which describes most high-end travellers.
Designing the journey around the experience
This is where the trip either works or falls apart. Try to see multiple WA icons on commercial schedules and you’ll burn days in transit or backtracking through Perth. With charter flight sectors, you can build a clean loop instead: Perth to Busselton for Margaret River, on to Exmouth for Ningaloo, up to Broome or Kununurra for the Kimberley, then back to Perth, landing close to high-end accommodation and ship departure points rather than the nearest major airport.
For small, high-yield groups, the timing and capacity flex to suit the itinerary rather than the other way around. Realistically, private jet hire is the only way to take in several WA icons across seven to ten days without losing whole days to “dead” travel.
