Who We Are
The management and staff work closely as a team to provide the highest levels of service and professionalism in the aircraft charter industry. No other charter management company has the depth of knowledge and industry experience as the task-ready Adagold Aviation team.
Simon Llewellyn
CEO + DIRECTOR
How long have you been at Adagold and what is the best part of your job?
I’ve been with Adagold 10 years in November. Working with a great bunch of people in a very dynamic environment is the best part of my job. Every day is different and we never know what opportunity or challenge will arise.
Today for example, the team are working on coordinating multiple aircraft charters including passenger and cargo flights for a new Hollywood film being shot on location at Lord Howe Island (which presents quite unique operational challenges with a very short runway located 460 miles off the coast). This afternoon, we are preparing for the arrival of an Airbus A340-300, carrying Australian Defence Force personnel home from deployment in the Middle East.
I’ve had the fortunate opportunity of travelling all over the world managing a wide range of aircraft charter flights. Next week I will be escorting passengers on their luxury adventure tour of West Papua, Indonesia.
I enjoy having a bag and passport packed ready to go at any time and it’s a great part of the job knowing I could be travelling somewhere new and exciting next week.
Who do you admire the most in the Aviation industry?
He’s retired now, but that would have to be my father. He was a pilot in Queensland doing mail runs to remote locations, a stunt pilot and trainer and later became an Air Traffic Controller in Sydney. Working as an Air Traffic Controller was known for being a highly stressful job and growing up I never really appreciated just how hard he was working and stressful it must have been, particularly with three teenage boys.
Where is your favourite holiday destination?
My partner and I tend to travel to new places when we get the chance. The only pre-requisite for a destination is that it includes either surfing or snowboarding. I would probably say Indonesia and Japan are my favourite places to travel.
Aisle or window seat?
Window – you can sleep against the side wall, you can look outside the window and see the cities you’re flying into or the amazing sunsets. And I only have to get up when I need to!
